Summary:
Back in 1961, Walt Disney got a little hip with 101 Dalmatians, making use of that flat Saturday morning cartoon style that had become so popular. The result is a kitschy change in animation and story. Pongo and Perdita are two lonely dalmatians who meet cute in a London park and arrange for their pet humans to marry so they can live together and raise a family. They become proud parents of 15 pups, who are stolen by the dastardly Cruella De Vil, who wants to make a fur coat out of them. Cruella has become the most popular villain in all of Disney; she's flamboyantly nasty and lots of fun. But it's the dalmatians that shine in this endearing classic, particularly those precocious pups. Telling the story from the dogs' point of view is a clever conceit, a fundamental flaw of the live-action remake.

I've always loved this movie and buying this was icing for me. Great movie, sweeeeet extras, pretty case, reasonable price. Perfect for kids and great for adults.

About 2 dalmatians who's puppies get stolen by evil. Obvious plot ending, but who cares.

This movie is the ultimate family movie. My kid loves it and I may love it even more. I would recommend anyone buy this, you'll enjoy it.

One of the terrific Disney classic family movies, where the 'bad guys' are just scary enough to make the story interesting, but bungling enough not to frighten young children.

Classic Family Film - Enhanced Too Much in Places

First let me say that the film is a classic and I am not going to review it on its story merits - strictly on the remastered product.

Many of us remember it from childhood, some from the theaters and others from VHS. I am somewhere in between. That said, my memory of the movie is of it appearing grainy both on TV and in the theater. Disney has done a masterful jobs of visually updating the film, sometimes too well. I would have preferred to keep some of visual texture of the original film because in the scenes where this is evident, it feels right. On the other hand, in those scenes where the film all of this texture is removed it feels a bit distant and artificial.

I do apologize that I cannot say anything about the sound because I no longer have a home theater system.

Purchase and enjoy, the extras are great and of course Disney will throw it back in the vault at some point driving up the cost of the remaining DVDs in the market. Buy it now and add it to your collection before it is too late.

101 Dalmations was 1 of my favs of disney so i waited a long time as it had to come out of the vaults, i waited in vain the thick black lines around the animated figures is so old-school! what a disappointment-- i'm sure after waiting for years disney could have done a better job and they shouldn't raise their prices & lower their standards-- and those useless trailers that no one wants to view-- so there! please stop making 2 disc when 1 is enough
